Meet the Owners
Zoua and Nhia Ly are Hmongs from Laos. Both came to the United States when they were five years old. Through church sponsorship, Zoua and Nhia’s family were able to come to America. The First Lutheran Church of Albemarle sponsored Nhia’s family. Zoua has been a resident of Stanly County for the last 19 years and Nhia for the past 35 years.
Zoua began her cooking lessons at the age of five. By the time she was six, she was able to prepare whole dinners for her family. Throughout her childhood and teenage years her techniques in preparing, cooking, and storing food steadily excelled. Then in 1990, she was hired to work as a customer service representative for Wah’s Kitchen, a very popular Chinese take out restaurant in Fresno, California. From there on, Zoua has continued to work in the restaurant industry.
